From August 21-24, around 3,000 freshmen students will flood the streets of Rotterdam. During the annual ‘Eurekaweek’ of Erasmus University Rotterdam they start to get to know the city and their fellow students. A Global Dance Challenge on our Sustainable Dance Floor will be part of this year’s Eurekaweek. Together with Rotterdam. Make It Happen we’re going to find out if these freshmen have got WATT it takes…
Global Dance Challenge
The Global Dance Challenge is an energetic dance contest. Four hours of dancing on a 64-tile Sustainable Dance Floor: who generates most energy and breaks the world record?
The current world record holder is NPO Radio 2. In October 2015 listeners of this Dutch radio station generated a smashing amount of 802.941 Joules during an event on National Sustainability Day in the Netherlands. Will the fresh load of students in Rotterdam be able to beat this world record?
Come on, Rotterdam. Make It Happen.
The Global Dance Challenge will take place on Monday August 21, from 10:45 am to 14:45 pm, following the opening ceremony of Eurekaweek. Location is The Meeting Point at Schouwburgplein, in the centre of Rotterdam. During the dance challenge students, Eurekaweek guides, crew members, sport clubs and fraternities will try to see if they’ve got what it takes to break the world record of 802.941 Joules.
Next to a challenge, it will also be a kickass party with opening acts from DA Dance Studio and HipHopHuis, and DJ Oliver Fuss (Crossroads).
This edition of the Global Dance Challenge is sponsored by Rotterdam. Make It Happen.
